Kolkata: To tide over the financial crisis in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and deputy chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia next week to seek assistance from the Central government.

The Chief Minister, who will leave for Delhi on Saturday, will meet Mukherjee on Monday and Ahluwalia on Tuesday, secretariat sources said in Kolkata on Thursday.

Mamata's meeting with the Central ministers follows one between state finance minister Amit Mitra and Mukherjee in the national capital recently.

During their last meeting here on May 29, Mukherjee had assured Mamata of Central assistance to the state to overcome its financial crisis.

Mukherjee had also agreed with the Chief Minister's description of the situation as "difficult" and her suggestion that long and short-term assistance was necessary for the state.
