Vani had reportedly approached the top brass of YSRC, and presented her woes about her husband's 'objectionable' activities both at home and in the constituency's politics.

Amid the electoral battle, an interesting fight has cropped up in Andhra Pradesh where a matrimonial dispute has reached the poll battleground. A zila parishad member has threatened to contest against her husband, who has been fielded by YSRCP from Tekkali assembly constituency in Srikakulam district.

According to a report in Times of India, a video of zila parishad member Duvvada Vani has gone viral, where she is heard saying she would contest against her husband, Duvvada Srinivas.

Tracking the acrimonious relationship of the political couple, the report stated that it all began in April 2023, when YSRCP announced Srinivas’s candidature.

Vani had reportedly approached the top brass of YSRC, and presented her woes about her husband’s “objectionable” activities both at home and in the constituency’s politics.

According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, at that time, had trusted Vani’s words, and announced that she would be the new in-charge for the constituency.

Both husband and wife opened separate offices and campaigned separately. Vani till then enjoyed clout in the party as the ZTPC of Tekkali.

The strong backing of the party made many speculate that she would be given Lok Sabha poll ticket from Tekkali. However, Jagan Mohan’s party fielded her husband instead.

According to TOI, Vani announced her intention to run against her husband during her birthday celebrations earlier this week, with her supporters indicating she would file nomination on April 22, if the party did not change its mind and nominate her.

The report further mentioned that however, after the poll schedule was announced in March, the party decided to field Srinivas, prompting Vani’s rebellion.
