Apple is banking heavily on AI features to spruce up the demand for the iPhone 16 series this year, including the base variants. But there is another interesting addition to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models that many of you are not talking about and that is the camera button. As the name suggests, this button looks to expand the use case of the camera and its features by simplifying the ways to activate it.
But it is not just limited to opening the camera app on the iPhone 16/16 Plus or the 16 Pros, and you can get more out of this capacitive touch button.
iPhone 16 Camera Button: Where Is It And What It Offers
The iPhone 16 series camera button or control as Apple calls it helps you take photos and even start recording video, like you do on a digital camera using its shutter button. You still have the traditional soft touch button to click the photo or shoot a video but a physical button with capacitive touch. Here’s what the camera control button can do on the new iPhones:
– Click to launch the camera app on iPhone 16 series models
– Click longer to take a photo
– Tap on the button to record a video
– Light-press the control button to enable zoom on the camera
– Double-press the control button to activate other camera settings like aperture/depth of field
The camera control button is on the right side sitting below the side/power button and that placement is more attuned to the camera being positioned in the landscape mode. The portrait form of holding the iPhone to click photos using the button could become slightly awkward, especially if you are a left-hander.
The good news about this control button is that Apple can customise the feature set with future updates because of its nature and even allow third-party apps to integrate their tools into it for the iPhone 16 users which enhances its use case and purpose at the same time.
