'Api Ki Death': Pakistan YouTuber's Vlog for Dead Sister Gets Criticised on Internet

In today’s world, social media is like a second home to many, but sometimes, people forget where the boundaries lie. Take, for instance, a Pakistani YouTuber who recently shared a vlog about visiting her late sister’s grave. Noor Rana, the YouTuber in question, decided to document her visit on her sister’s death anniversary, whom she lost in 2015.

As Noor unfolded her story, revealing the heartache of losing her sister so young and newlywed, she captured every detail, from scattering rose petals to performing solemn rites. However, her portrayal ignited a firestorm of criticism among social media users, who wasted no time lambasting her for what they perceived as an insensitive display.

Comments flooded her YouTube video, with one user expressing, “Shame on you making content on your sisters death god help us pls just sake of to earn money."

Another commenter echoed the sentiment, “That is why education is really important. Shame on you."

The backlash didn’t stop there. Noor’s video spread to other platforms like wildfire. On ‘X’, users continued the tirade against her. “This is next level shameful behaviour," remarked one user. “This vlogging culture is going way out of the line," commented another, with a third adding a sarcastic jab, “Vloggers Setting high standards day by day."

But this isn’t an isolated incident. Just last year, another YouTuber, Lakshay Chaudhary, faced a similar backlash after vlogging his grandfather’s funeral. His video depicted him chatting casually with attendees, capturing every moment, and even reflecting on his grandfather’s life with seemingly little regard for the solemnity of the occasion.

Truly, these instances serve as stark reminders of the need for responsible behaviour, especially in the realm of social media where boundaries are often blurred, and sensitivity can easily be overshadowed by the pursuit of likes and views.
