Arshad Nadeem’s Call for Pakistanis to Rise Up Has Snoring Sound. Internet Points Out the Irony
"Only in Pakistan can a gold medalist's call to action be overshadowed by a snore-off!" wrote an X user in response to Arshad Nadeem's Independence Day message.

As Pakistan is celebrating its 78th Independence Day today, August 14, the country’s javelin star Arshad Nadeem, who bagged gold at the recently-concluded Paris Olympics, urged the country to come together as one. He even requested Pakistanis to change their profile pictures on social media platforms to celebrate the occasion. However, his request was overshadowed by a loud snore in the background, which the Internet was quick enough to point out.

“Arshad Nadeem asking Pakistani awaam to rise up while there is guy snoring in the background. Poetic,” reads the caption to the video shared on X.

In the video, Nadeem says, “On Pakistan’s 78th Independence day, I appeal to my entire nation to come together as one and make a firm decision that we are united. Just as on August 8, when winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics brought a wave of happiness not only in Pakistan but among Pakistanis around the world, I want you all to stand with me once again,” as a man can be heard snoring in the background.

The 27-year-old athlete added, “Just as I am kicking off this campaign by changing the profile pictures on all my social media accounts for August 14, I urge you all to join me in updating your profile pictures and proudly showing the world that we are Pakistani.”
