CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, is the subject of a round-the-clock spotlight on social media and television. As the market value of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) chipmaker surpassed that of Apple to become the world’s second most valuable company, CEO Huang’s popularity skyrocketed. Recently, Jensen Huang, wearing a hallmark leather Tom Ford jacket, crowded the booth at a Taiwanese tech convention when a woman made an unusual request. The high-profile tech CEO autographed a woman’s chest at her request, sparking an online frenzy.
In a video posted on Threads on June 4, CEO Huang was approached by enthusiastic fans requesting autographs. In one instance, a female fan asked Huang to sign her form-fitting top. Surprised, Huang inquired, “Are you sure?” The fan confirmed, and Huang responded, “Is that a good idea?” before proceeding to give his autograph
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “In my opinion, asking for a signature on a T-shirt is similar to what most people do. I admire Jensen’s calm handling of the situation without overreacting.”
Another user labelled it as, “self-objectification.” Meanwhile, a third user commented, “I’ve never seen a request like this in my life.” Yet another user pointed out, “Fortunately, he was very gentlemanly, and his hands didn’t touch the body.”
The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reports that the woman later posted a photo of herself with Huang on Instagram along with a statement about her feelings at the time.
“Adrenaline rush today. My wish was fulfilled! I shook hands with the ‘AI Godfather’, and he also signed my phone case and clothes. Hoping for great fortune this year!” she wrote.
According to the China Times, the incident happened on June 4 during the Computex 2024 trade expo in Taipei. Computex 2024, held from June 4 to 7, is one of Asia’s premier computer exhibitions. It highlights innovations, investigates technical breakthroughs and talks about the future of IT and telecommunications.
While waiting for Huang to speak at Computex this week, one participant told Reuters, “He’s just such an inspiration – he’s one of us.”
Another said, “He’s like a pop star. That’s how we view him.”
According to Business Insider, Huang discussed Nvidia’s next-generation technology and the robot revolution during the conference.
