This Video Of A Giant Shark Swimming Close To Spanish Beach Will Send Chills Down Your Spine

It is not everyday that one can spot a giant, real shark swimming up close to the coastline. Well, this actually turned out to be true after a nearly 10-foot shark appeared before the tourists on a packed Spanish beach. As the sun-seekers were casually enjoying the moment, soaking up the heat, the shark came near the shore, leaving them terrified. Several videos of the incident have surfaced on the internet, showing tourists and locals capturing the big fish on the camera as it calmly glides through the turquoise blue water.

According to Daily Mail, the incident happened on Monday at around 5 pm at the Porto de Bares beach, located near Manon town in the Galician province of La Coruna.

However, there was no need to worry as it was identified as a harmless basking shark, which is said to be an endangered species. Speaking about the same, local mayor Alfredo Dovale shared that he hadn’t seen a shark of this type so close to the shoreline and thought it was related to the higher water temperatures. “With the way it was moving, it looked disoriented or even ill,” he added.

Later, the fish was spotted for the second time on Tuesday, but this time, a little further from the coast. Notably, this is not the first report of shark sightings on European coastlines.

Earlier, a 24-foot basking shark, the second-largest shark species, showed up on a beach in the Scottish village of Maidens in Ayrshire. A forklift was brought in, which had a rope caught between its mouth and wrapped around its tail.

Beach Shut After Hammerhead Shark Sighting

In June this year, Spanish police shared chilling footage of a hammerhead shark swimming off the coast of Gran Canaria. The sighting of the giant fish even led to the closure of the popular Meleara Beach in the town of Telde. Other footage online also showed alarmed bathers rushing to the shore and getting out of the water. Luckily, no one was hurt, as the fish eventually made its way into deeper waters.

The beach was closed for a couple of days before officials gave the green signal for swimmers to return to the water.
