Pakistan: Three killed in blast targeting President Mamnoon Hussain's son
The incident took place outside a restaurant in the Hub industrial area on on Monday which links Karachi with the troubled Balochistan province.

Karachi: At least three people were killed and 13 others injured in a remote-controlled bomb blast that was apparently targeted at Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain's son who escaped the attack in the restive Balochistan province unhurt.

The incident took place outside a restaurant in the Hub industrial area on on Monday which links Karachi with the troubled Balochistan province, police said. President's son Salman Mamnoon, who was apparently the target of the attack, escaped unhurt.

"The explosives were planted in a motorcycle parked near the restaurant and apparently the militants knew the President's son Salman would pass through on the road as he frequently goes to Hub industrial area where he has a farming business," an official said.

Superintendent Police Investigation, Hub, Jam Mandokhel said Salman's convoy and district police officer Lasbela Bashir Brohi were passing by the area when the huge explosion occurred.

"An ASI of the Karachi police and three other policemen in Salman's convoy sustained injuries," he said.

According to television channels, the blast was so loud it was heard in nearby areas and glass windows of nearby shops were shattered as panic spread among local residents. No immediately claimed of responsibility for the attack.
