The unscripted words that Roman Reigns uttered during his WrestleMania 40 clash against Cody Rhodes have now been revealed by the American Nightmare.

While speaking on the Sports Illustrated Podcast, Rhodes revealed what the former Universal champion told him in the middle of the fight. He said this as per Essentially Sports: “He [Roman Reigns] said ‘one more dance’ and I thought oh we are cruising into something and he just came so dialled in and so prepared".

In the same interview, Rhodes also spoke about what it felt like to be headlining WrestleMania for a second year in a row. “This was very much a big fight feel and it was kind of continued and snowballed into Roman and I are looking at each other in the ring and you can see it on camera".

Rhodes found his moment of redemption as he beat Reigns at WrestleMania 40 for the Universal Championship. He had previously competed in a tag-team showdown against the Samoan duo of The Rock and Tribal Chief on the first night of the wrestling event. He had teamed up with the then-WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins for the clash. Rhodes and Rollins ended up losing the affair, leading to several doubts surrounding the American Nightmare’s chances against Reigns the following night.

Performing in front of a crowd of 145,000-plus fans at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Reigns and Rhodes produced a spectacle at WrestleMania 40. Knowing that this could be the last time the duo squared off, the Tribal Chief laid it all out but could not take home the title this time.

Rhodes celebrated his title triumph the night following WrestleMania on April 9’s episode of RAW. He was welcomed inside the ring by WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque. The celebrations were temporarily halted after The Rock made an entry. However, a warm exchange took place between the two superstars before the Samoan left the ring.

As for the ongoing storyline, Rhodes is set to defeat his Universal Championship at the company’s upcoming premium live event WWE Backlash. The top contender for the title was decided just recently after AJ Styles beat LA Knight on April 19’s episode of WWE SmackDown. Styles secured the win in the show’s opening match with a Phenomenal Forearm to seal his place against Rhodes.
