KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday stayed the government order granting sanction to prosecute Kannada actor Jayamala for outraging religious feelings by entering the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala.Justice N K Balakrishnan issued the interim order, while considering a petition field by Jayamala challenging the government’s order.A case was registered following Jayamala’s  claim that she had visited the temple, entered the sanctum sanctorum and touched the idol in 1987. The actor and the other accused astrologer Parappanangady Unnikrishna Panicker, and his aide, Reghupathi, had been charged with offences under Section 295(A) of IPC (deliberate and malicious act, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs). The petitioner submitted that the decision of  the government to grant sanction for proceedings under Section 295(A) was illegal and added that the offences were charged long after the commission of the offence.
