The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Goa has announced that for admission to engineering degree courses in the state, students need to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main instead of the Goa CET exam. DTE had been conducting the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) for admission to professional degree courses such as BTech and BPharm but now it stands cancelled.
For admission to Pharmacy courses, DTE will consider scores in Physics and Chemistry in the national-level engineering entrance exam — JEE Main 2024, and the medical entrance exam — National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024. This means that Goa students seeking admission to Pharmacy courses have the option to take either JEE Main or NEET 2024, or both.
“Admissions to Engineering B.E. Degree courses in the State of Goa in the year 2024-25 shall be carried out on the basis of Score/Rank at Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Main)-2024 to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in January 2024 and April 2024,” reads the official notice by DTE.
“Admissions to Pharmacy B.Pharm. Degree course in the State of Goa in the year 2024-25 shall be carried out on the basis of Best aggregate Score in the subjects of Physics and Chemistry, either at JEE-Main 2024 OR NEET-2024. Accordingly, aspirants for admissions to B. Pharm. Course may opt to answer JEE-Main 2024 OR NEET-2024 OR BOTH,” the notice added.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has begun the registration for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 Session 1 on November 1. Eligible candidates can register themselves on the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The last date to apply is Nov 30. The first session of JEE Main 2024 will take place from January 24 to February 1. Meanwhile, NEET UG 2024 will be conducted on May 5th next year. The application date and notification are likely to be released soon. For NEET (UG) 2024, the results will be declared by the second week of June, NTA had said.
